For the fear of encountering familiar spirits, many Christians rarely engage angels for supernatural assistance in their everyday living. While it is true that you can live your life completely without giving a crap about their existence and still survive, God did not intend for you to merely survive. He wants you to live and enjoy your life to the fullest, having angels minister to your needs.
(Heb 1:14)  Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
The Old and New Testaments are filled with examples of angels fulfilling this their godly role which is to serve man, believers especially.
In Genesis 19, they saved Lot and his family from the destruction that was coming upon Sodom. Immediately after that, they encouraged and saved Hagar and Ishmael from death.
When Elijah fell into depression and fear, an angel was there to help him. The same angel twice provided food supernaturally for him to eat and continue his journey.
(1Ki 19:4)  But he himself went a day's journey into the wilderness, and came and sat down under a juniper tree: and he requested for himself that he might die; and said, It is enough; now, O LORD, take away my life; for I am not better than my fathers.
(1Ki 19:5)  And as he lay and slept under a juniper tree, behold, then an angel touched him, and said unto him, Arise and eat.
(1Ki 19:6)  And he looked, and, behold, there was a cake baken on the coals, and a cruse of water at his head. And he did eat and drink, and laid him down again.
(1Ki 19:7)  And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
(1Ki 19:8)  And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.
By appearing to Joseph in a dream, an angel helped him understand and accept Mary’s pregnancy to be of God (Matt.1:20-21)
Few months later, in another dream an angel appeared to him again informing him of Herod’s plan to kill the baby Jesus. When Herod died, the angel was also there to inform and advise Joseph on what to do (Matt. 2:13-14, 19-21)
Immediately after the temptations of Jesus, the scriptures recorded that angels ministered to Him and on the morning of His resurrection they helped roll away the stone that was covering His tomb. (Matt.4:11, 28:1-7)
In Acts chapter 5, we find the beautiful story of how an angel rescued the apostles from prison after they were locked up for preaching the gospel and performing miracles in the name of Jesus.
(Act 5:17)  Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, (which is the sect of the Sadducees,) and were filled with indignation,
(Act 5:18)  And laid their hands on the apostles, and put them in the common prison.
(Act 5:19)  But the angel of the Lord by night opened the prison doors, and brought them forth, and said,
(Act 5:20)  Go, stand and speak in the temple to the people all the words of this life.
A similar event is also found in Acts 12:6-11 where an angel rescued Peter from prison, saving him from death in the hands of Herod. All through the scriptures, angelic activities have been very very pronounced.
So why is the church not seeing much of it today? Has angels stopped operating with the death of the early apostles?
Truth is, angels are still very much active today. They are here with us right now and will continue to help God’s children everywhere until the end of times.
The church today has failed to maximize their potentials for two major reasons. One is ignorance of how they operate. The other is fear of encountering familiar or demonic spirits while desiring to be ministered to by angels.
If the later is your predicament, you need to understand that the belief that evil spirits will come to you if you ask God for angels is highly unscriptural. There is not one scripture that supports that.
You can’t ask God for a fish and He will give a snake neither can you ask Him for bread and He will send stones your way.
(Mat 7:7)  Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
(Mat 7:8)  For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
(Mat 7:9)  Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
(Mat 7:10)  Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
(Mat 7:11)  If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?
Believing otherwise about God is a slap on His character. He gives you exactly what you ask for, provide it is in His will for you -and angels are in His will for us. They were created with you and I in mind.
(Heb 1:14)  Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Also, you need to understand that the devil does not answer prayers prayed according to the Word of God and in the name of Jesus. He doesn’t have that kind of authority, even in His dreams. (Please read what I just said again)
I’m not just talking about some wishful vain thinking that has no foot in the Word. I’m talking about prayers made in the name of Jesus in line with the Word. The devil has no business with them since are specifically addressed to God in the authority of His Son. (I wish you can really get this)
So be confident, if we ask anything in accordance with the Word in the name of Jesus, God and not the devil, hears us. That is what the Bible teaches, not the other way round.
(1Jn 5:13)  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
(1Jn 5:14)  And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
(1Jn 5:15)  And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
As a matter of fact, those who say you can’t or shouldn’t ask God for angels to minister or carry out out a particular function for you has either not studied Judges 13 and Matthew 26:52-54 in details or choose to obviously ignore such scriptures.
(Mat 26:52)  Then Jesus said to him, “Put your sword back into its place, for all those who take the sword will die by the sword.
(Mat 26:53)  Or do you think that I couldn’t ask my Father, and he would even now send me more than twelve legions of angels?
(Mat 26:54)  How then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that it must be so?” WEB version
While we must never worship or completely lay our focus on Angels but on Christ, it is also noteworthy to know that God in His infinite wisdom created them for man. To give us supernatural assistance whenever we have need for it.
Recognizing And Receiving Angelic Assistance (How To Do It)
1. Be open to receive it
Pull down the religious walls of resistance you may have built in your heart against angelic activities and be open to receive their assistance whenever possible.
Always bear in mind that God in His wisdom intended for them to serve you -the man in Christ. So they are for you and not against you.
2. Their assistance may not always be dramatic
The major reason most people fail to recognize when the supernatural is at work around them is because they have been conditioned to expect something dramatic.
For instance in hearing the voice of God. God speaks to everyone of His children, everyone. But most people fail to recognize when He is talking to them because they are expecting some thunderous, tree-bending and earth-shaking sound. No, it rarely happens that way.
Angelic assistance are often so simple and normal one can easily miss it for natural coincidence.
They can arrange for people to hear the gospel from whomever they are willing to receive it for them to be saved. And the whole situation will look ordinary until when given a careful look.
Angels can even appear to you looking like ordinary human strangers to help you when you are stranded, frustrated and do not know what to do. In his final words, the author of the book of Hebrews puts it this way.
(Heb 13:1)  Let brotherly love continue.
(Heb 13:2)  Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
3. Give them specific instructions in prayer
In prayers, you can give angels specific instructions and watch them execute them.
The Greek word translated as “ministering” or “minister” in Hebrews 1:14 is just like the word “waiter” in English.
It is used to convey the idea of someone who attends to the instructions of others. Someone who is easily available to take your orders and meet your needs.
So don’t be scared to give specific godly instructions to angels and watch them do them. They actually serve God by doing your biddings, fulfilling the purpose of their existence.
4. Angels do not convey messages contrary to the written word
By this you will be able to know if the supernatural beings you encountered are truly angels or demons, if whatever message you receive from them is contrary to the written word or not.
The scriptures encourages us to test all things. This is especially needed when it comes to supernatural activities.
I hope this meets you well.
See how much God loves you, creating special supernatural beings just to attends to your needs in Christ.
You are special. Very very special to God.
Glory to His name!

  2. I like how in Hebrews 1:14 it used the word 'for' rather than 'to'. Angels are here to minster for us. They are sent by God on assignments. Thank you for posting Prince!
